Rye Bread Experience | Laugarvatn - South

Rye Bread Experience | Laugarvatn - South

Experience geothermal energy at its core on this half-an-hour tour through Iceland’s very first Geothermal Bakery. Learn the process behind one of Icelanders’ favourite breads, rye bread (rúgbrauð), a dark, dense, and sweet bread traditionally baked in a pot then left buried in the ground near a hot spring for 24 hours. Dig out the pot from the hot black sand, and try the still warm bread, best served with butter. Best combined with the geothermal bathing, and the ideal way to slow travel on your Golden Circle Tour. Departures everyday at 11:30 and 14:30 all year round.
