Lava Walk with a Local | Westman Islands

Relive the history of Westman Islands on this 2-hour walk, focused on the eruption which began without warning on the Eastern side of Heimaey on 23 January, 1973. Learn about the spectacular race against time to save the harbour, the inhabitant’s hasty departure to mainland and how the events have shaped the island’s character.
