Pre-Tour 10 - 15 October 2026

Embark on an unforgettable journey through Iceland’s most captivating regions—South, East, and North. Over six days, you’ll explore dramatic glaciers, cascading waterfalls, and volcanic landscapes, while discovering the charm of rolling valleys and geothermal springs. Visit innovative farms and local food producers, savor authentic Icelandic cuisine, and enjoy the option to relax in natural hot pools—not once, but twice. This pre-tour experience is a celebration of Iceland’s unique blend of raw nature, rural traditions, and warm hospitality.


 

Day 1| Arrival & Hotel Eldhestar

Saturday - 10 October | (D)

For early arrivals (06:00-12:00): Guest will be picked up at the airport and transferred to Reykjavík (a 50-minute drive). Luggage will be stored, and guests will have free time to explore Reykjavík. At 15:00/16:00, there will be a transfer from Reykjavik to Hotel Eldhestar (a 40-minute drive) for the first night's stay.

For the afternoon arrivals (12:00 onwards): Guests will be picked up at the airport and transferred directly to Hotel Eldhestar (a 1.5-hour drive).

  • Overnight and welcome dinner at Hotel Eldhestar. A country hotel and horse ranch. There will be an introduction on the Icelandic horse, the breeding program at Eldhestar and their riding tours.


 

Day 2 | South Coast & Vík

Sunday - 11 October | 340 km | (B/L/D)Uppspuni - Icelandic knitting

We travel along the southern shore, passing Eyjafjallajökull glacier (notable for its 2010 eruption) and the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. We visit Lækjartún sheep and cattle farm, where young farmers have creatively utilized all byproducts of their farming, leading to the establishment of Uppspuni Mini Mill in 2017. Next, we stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can walk behind the cascading water. We will visit Þorvaldseyri farm, known for its dairy and grain cultivation, and recognized with awards including the Icelandic Order of the Falcon for agricultural innovations. We continue to Skógafoss waterfall before exploring the Skógasafn Folk Museum, which showcases historical artifacts and a traditional turf farm.

Heading further east, we make a short detour to the Reynisfjara black beach before arriving at Vík, the southernmost village in Iceland. Our journey continues over the Mýrdalssandur plain to the Vatnajökull glacier area with a brief stop at the Skaftafell National Park visitor center.

  • Overnight & dinner at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon. 4-star hotel located between Skaftafell National Park and the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.

 


 

Day 3 | Vatnajökull & Eastern Fjords

Monday - 12 October | 370 km | (B/L/D)

We begin the day with a 30-minute amphibian boat tour on Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, followed by a stroll to Eystri-Fellsfjara beach, famously known as the ‘diamond beach’ for its ice blocks washed ashore. Next, we visit Brunnhóll Country Hotel for an introduction to local farming practices where we will enjoy a light lunch. The hotel is owners are former farmers, and their son now operates a nearby dairy farm, producing ice cream called Jöklaís (glacier ice).

We drive through Höfn village and head towards the eastern fjords to visit Gautavík farm in Berufjörður fjord. This farm specializes in sheep and industrial hemp cultivation. We’ll learn about their diverse production, including lamb meat, hemp tea, and ointments. The farmer also collaborates with a local school on innovative sustainability projects, integrating hemp cultivation and usage.

We drive along the eastern fjords, stopping at Stöðvarfjörður village to visit Petra’s Stone Collection Museum, before continuing to Egilsstaðir village.

  • Overnight and dinner at Lake Hotel Egilsstaðir. A renowned, family run hotel in the farming district in the East. It meets all modern requirements as to standards of services and amenities, quality, sophistication and comfort. 


Day 4 | East to North Iceland

Located at Lake Hotel Egilsstaðir, the Egilsstaðir cattle and dairy farm is our first stop, where we’ll learn about their products, many of which are featured in the hotel’s restaurant menu. Next, we visit Vallanes organic farm, renowned for its exceptional work in organic farming, producing cereals, vegetables, and herbs. Vallanes is situated in Hallormsstaðarskógur, Iceland’s largest forest. We’ll drive through this forest and pause for a guided tour and an introduction to Icelandic forestry.

We journey around Lögurinn lake and head north, pausing for lunch before exploring the stunning Stuðlagil basalt canyon. Our adventure continues along the Möðrudalsöræfi mountain road, with a detour to witness Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss. Upon reaching the Lake Mývatn area, our final stop for the day is the Námaskarð geothermal area, featuring fumaroles and boiling mud pots.

For those interested, an optional drop-off at Mývatn Nature Baths for a 1-1.5-hour bathing stop before heading to the hotel with the rest of the group. The bus will then pick up the bathers later to arrive at the hotel 20 minutes before dinner. Please see special prices for agents below. 

  • Overnight & dinner at Sel Hotel Mývatn. A comfortable family run hotel operating their own brewery since a couple of years ago.

  


 

Day 5 | Lake Mývatn & Akureyri

We start our day with a short walk over to the Skútustaðagígar pseudo-craters. After that, we will head to Garður farm by Lake Mývatn, where we will learn about the tradition of smoking trout from the lake. Our next stop will be the Dimmuborgir lava rock formations.

From there, we will make our way to Vogafjós farm, which has a restaurant and accommodations. We will meet the owners, hear their story, and enjoy a light lunch at their restaurant. Almost completing our circle around Lake Mývatn, we will visit the Goðafoss waterfall.

Next, we will head to Eyjafjörður fjord, where Akureyri town is located. On the way, we will take a short detour to Holtsel farm, meet the family, and taste their famous ice cream.

For those interested, an optional drop-off at Forest Lagoon for a 1-1.5-hour bathing stop before heading to the hotel with the rest of the group. The bus will return to pick up the bathers and transfer them to the hotel. Please see special prices for agents below.

Day 6 | Akureyri & flight to Reykjavík

After a short exploratoin of Akureyri town we will head over to Nordlenska Ltd., a firm that produces and markets local agricultural products. Next, we will make our way to the small community of Árskógssandur to visit the Kaldi brewery.

Our journey continues to the Hauganes community, where we will visit Ektafiskur, one of the few producers of salted cod still operating in northern Iceland. After the factory visit, we will enjoy a baccalao/salted cod lunch before heading back to Akureyri.

We will have some free time in Akureyri on our own until 15:30 when heading for Akureyri airport for the flight at 16:45 to Reykjavík (45 min flight). Upon arrival in Reykjavík transfer to the GA conference hotel, arrival there will be around 18:00.
