Itinerary

Day 1: 10 August 2026 - Drive from Reykjavík to Hólmavík

Start your adventure with a scenic drive to Hólmavík, a charming village known for its rich folklore and the Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft. As you wind through the picturesque landscapes, take in the stunning views of the fjords and mountains. Upon arrival, explore the local attractions and enjoy a relaxing evening in this quaint town. 

Day 2: 11 August 2026 - Journey to Ísafjörður

Continue your journey to Ísafjörður, the largest town in the Westfjords. The drive offers breathtaking coastal views and opportunities to stop at small fishing villages along the way. Once in Ísafjörður, immerse yourself in the town’s vibrant culture, visit the maritime museum, and savour local cuisine at one of the cozy restaurants. 

Day 3: 12 August 2026 - Solar Eclipse

Experience the awe-inspiring solar eclipse of 2026 from Ísafjörður, a prime location for viewing this celestial event. Spend the day exploring more of the town and its surroundings, perhaps join activity tours or go hiking in the beautiful fjord landscapes. Enjoy another night in Ísafjörður.

Day 4: 13 August 2026 - Southern Part of the Westfjords

Begin your day with a visit to the stunning Dynjandi waterfall, then take some time to relax at a nearby natural hot spring along the coast. In the evening, make your way back to Hólmavík for your final night in the Westfjords. 

Day 5: 14 August 2026 - Return to Reykjavík or Continue Exploring Iceland

On your final day, decide whether to head back to Reykjavík or continue your journey around Iceland. If you choose to return to the capital, enjoy the drive back with stops at interesting sites along the way. Alternatively, if you continue exploring, consider visiting other regions such as the Snæfellsnes Peninsula or the Golden Circle for more Icelandic adventures.
