South Coast & Glacier Hiking
Less than two hours' drive from Reykjavík lies the Eyjafjallajökull glacier, and just a bit further along, the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue stretches from Mýrdalsjökull—Iceland’s fourth largest glacier. A glacier hike offers an exceptional opportunity to immerse oneself in the dramatic Icelandic landscape. Participants enjoy a gentle walk on the glacier, equipped with crampons, as they ascend onto the ice field where a captivating world of ice sculptures, ridges, and deep crevasses awaits exploration. Along the way, guides share insights into the formation and future of these disappearing giants. All necessary glacier equipment is provided, along with instruction on its use to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. On the return journey, the tour includes stops at two of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls—Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss—adding even more unforgettable scenery to the day. Available all year.
