Expect a scenic drive today on your way to the Eastfjords, made of abrupt mountains and downside waterfalls from all sides. Today spend time in the beautiful Borgarfjörður district, whose every single corner is tied to a surfeit of sagas, including Egil’s Saga. Make your way up the 3000-year-old Grábrók Crater, before heading to Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, two waterfalls of different set up but equal beauty. Make a stop at Europe’s most powerful hot spring, Deildartunguhver, followed by a visit of the historic Reykholt. Once back in Reykjavík, you might want to take a dip in a geothermal swimming pool and dine out at one of the city’s acclaimed restaurants.
