Who would think that Iceland had one of the world's top dive sites? The crystal clear water of Silfra fissure offers up to 100m underwater visibility. It is located in Þingvellir National Park, on the rift between the American and Eurasian continents. Snorkeling here gives you a feeling of being weightless as you float down with the lazy current. It is relaxing and exotic at the same time. The water is cold but you are provided with a specially made thermal suit. Available daily all year. Please read the requirements before booking this tour

Location Silfra in Þingvellir National Park

Distance from Reykjavík is 50 km /  31 MI / Aprox. 1 hour

Pick-up time: Pick up starts 1,5 hour before tour start. Please be ready in time and note that it can take 30 minutes for us to arrive.

Location place and time: You can also meet us on location at Silfra parking lot. Please type “Thingvellir Parking P5” into google maps, and it will give you directions to where you can park your car, which is the 2nd car park 400m further along the road to where you will be snorkeling from. If you are driving from Reykjavik to meet us for your tour then please allow one hour for your journey.

Once parked at Thingvellir parking P5, you will need to pay a parking fee of 500 ISK to the national park. At the parking lot you will find a machine where you can purchase a ticket to display on your dashboard (The machine accepts both credit and debit cards).

To meet your guide from tour company Arctic Adventure: Walk 400m back along the road until you reach the car park with all the snorkel and dive vans, and look for our guides and cars. There are other companies at the site so make sure you go to the right one and show your voucher.

Participants must

  • all snorkelers must fill out a online MEDICAL FORM form out before going on the tour
  • be at least 150 cm tall
  • be at least 45kg
  • be at least 12 years of age
  • be comfortable in the water and be able to swim
  • be physically fit
  • be ready to wear a somtimes tight & constricting dry suit
  • not be pregnant
