With over 170 carefully selected accommodations around the country each with a unique experience to offer guests, we at Hey Iceland want to help you find the perfect place to stay during your time in Iceland.

From cozy bed and breakfasts to charming farm cottages, where you can get a first-hand experience of how an Icelandic farm is run, guesthouses, located by the ocean, and hostels that will have you feeling right at home there is a place for everyone to get comfortable at!

To help give you a better idea of the various places within our network here is a quick guide to our accommodations around Iceland and a map of all our network of accommodations.

West Iceland

The region that boasts the nickname “Iceland in mini”, the West of Iceland offers endless adventures and places to explore. I recommend spending at least one night in the West of Iceland, so you don’t have to rush enjoying all of the wonderful attractions in the area. From charming, colorful fishing towns to the Snæfellsjökull National Park, there is a lot to see and do in this part of Iceland.

If you can spend a few days in the West of Iceland, you will be sure to find an accommodation to suit all traveling types.

The Westfjords

If you love exploring untouched nature and soaking in natural hot springs, make sure to schedule a stay in the Westfjords! During the winter months this region becomes a quiet place with few accommodations open, but in the summer it comes alive with the nature and dozens of unique accommodations opening up.

Enjoy a stay in one of the many small fishing towns or one of the stunning fjords while you explore this region and all the gems it has to offer.

Heydalur Guesthouse - The perfect accommodation for those who love spending as much time as possible outside exploring nature. This guesthouse is located in Heydalur valley where the outdoor activities to enjoy are endless so bring your adventurous spirit for this stay.

Breiðavík - A cozy country hotel surrounded by one gorgeous setting, a stay at Breiðavík will have you relaxing in no time. Located nearby golden sand beaches and Europe's largest bird cliff where puffins can often be seen in the summer months - you will have plenty to explore during your stay.

North Iceland

The North of Iceland is known for its contrasting landscapes, from beautiful fjords to rugged mountains, you will be awed by this region before you even leave the car. One thing you will be sure to see plenty of in the North of Iceland is charming Icelandic farms with animals roaming about.

Why not take your Iceland adventure a bit further with a stay on one of those farms while in the North of Iceland?

Gauksmýri - A horse-themed lodge that offers horse riding lessons, tours, and a horse show, this accommodation is a dream location for horse and animal lovers alike!

Sölvanes - A stay at Sölvanes will have you learning first hand about the Icelandic farming culture. It won't be all work, though, not only will there be plenty of cute animals to play with there are several popular walking trails to explore as well as the historical region of Skagafjörður.

If farm life is not of interest to you, don’t worry there are plenty of other fantastic options to choose from in the North of Iceland.

Keldunes II – A perfect bed and breakfast to stay at to explore many of the North’s main attractions as well as the most northern part of Vatnajökull National Park.

Hotel Sveinbjarnargerði - A country hotel located on the Eyjafjörður fjord just a short drive to Iceland’s “Capital of the North” Akureyri, guest can enjoy the beautiful views over the fjord from the midnight sun to the northern lights it is a tranquil location to stay.

East Iceland

One of the least visited areas (but that is quickly changing!) is the East of Iceland or the Eastfjords. While it may take some time to make it to this part of the country, the long drive will be worth it. Spend a few days hiking the many gorgeous trails the locals love to share, stop into the quaint fishing towns, and see what inspires you in this region that is quickly turning into a creative hub of Iceland.

With accommodations as diverse as the landscape there will be a place everyone in your group can enjoy in the lovely Eastfjords.

Blábjörg Guesthouse - A guesthouse in a renovated fish factory in a small fishing village in Borgarfjörður eystri. Guests can enjoy an outdoor sauna while taking in the beautiful views at this unique accommodation.

Hotel Eyvindará - A hotel surrounded by a wooded area just outside of Egilsstaði, Hotel Eyvindará is situated in the perfect location for exploring.

South Iceland

Iceland’s most visited region and the location of many of Iceland’s most popular attractions is the beautiful South of Iceland. With the famous Golden Circle route and endless amounts of waterfalls and hidden gems to be discovered make sure to plan time for lots of adventures in this region.

With so much to see and do I recommend staying a night or two in this region in one of the many beautiful accommodations the south has to offer.

Icelandic Cottages by Hraunmörk - Two modern country houses ideal for groups of 6, these cottages are the perfect place to relax in style while exploring the South of Iceland.

Hotel Gullfoss - Located just a short drive from the popular attractions along the Golden Circle, the country hotel is the place to stay for those who like to be near the action!

Hestakráin - With on-site horse rentals, a country pub and a restaurant that focuses on Icelandic ingredients this cozy guesthouse offers a real Icelandic experience in the heart of the South of Iceland.

The Highlands of Iceland

The Highlands of Iceland is a region known for its rugged landscapes, beautiful hiking trails, and colorful rhyolite mountains. It is not the easiest area in the country to reach, and many parts are closed during the winter months, but if you can make it to Iceland’s interior, it will be more than worth it.

Camping is a great option for those traveling to the Highlands but if you are looking for a more comfortable stay here are two other wonderful accommodations to check out.

Hrauneyjar Guesthouse - Get a good night's rest in this cozy guesthouse before heading off for a day packed with hiking adventures on the many nearby trails.

A stay in the quirky capital city is a must while in Iceland even if it is just for the night. Wander the streets taking in Reykjavik’s iconic colorful houses, dine on some delicious Icelandic food and see what quirks you will discover that make Reykjavik so unique. 

If you prefer a quieter stay in the capital region with nature, and close to the city, these accommodations are great options for you.
