The family at Skeiðvellir gives their guests a warm welcome to their horse breeding farm, which is centrally located in South Iceland. Horseback riding is offered in small groups, for both more experienced riders, beginners and those who have never ridden before. Accommodation

At the horse breeding farm, Skeiðvellir, 2 well-equipped cottages are rented out. Enchanting panoramic views of Eyjafjallajökull, Hekla and Westman Islands, which can be seen when the weather is good. When the Northern Lights are visible, it is fantastic to see them dance across the sky above the town. Beautiful short walks in the area and you can visit our horses in the stables and even go horseback riding. A great place for people who want to make the most of the peaceful countryside and explore South Iceland.

Panorama - 48m² cottage
Skeiðvellir Panorama is a 48m² fully equipped cottage with a living room, bathroom, kitchen and 1 bedroom with a double bed. There is also a sofa bed (140cm) in the living room, well suitable for 2 children. Various board games and cards on site. Free Wi-Fi access. The Panorama cottage offers great mountain views and tranquillity.

Villa - 110m² cottage
Skeiðvellir Villa is a 110 m² fully equipped cottage with a living room, bathroom, kitchen, pantry, laundry room and 3 bedrooms (2 double rooms and 1 twin room, with 2 separate beds). Various board games and cards on site. Free Wi-Fi access.

 
Board

Breakfast basket can be ordered, upon request, and delivered the night before. A visit to our small café, located at Skeiðvellir, is nice after visiting the stables. After the horse-riding, warm cocoa, tea, or coffee is offered in the café.

 
Service and recreation

Skeiðvellir is a great horse breeding farm, where we welcome our guests to visit the stables. You can book horseback riding tours, riding lessons, lead rein riding for children and a challenge trail for kids. There are beautiful hiking trails on our land, and many of Iceland's gems are within easy reach by car. The hosts can also provide good advice for those who want to see hidden gems in the area such as small waterfalls, caves, and mountains to name a few.
There are 2 swimming pools in the vicinity of Skeiðvellir, in Laugaland (4.4 km) and in Hella (15 km). You can go to Hvolsvöllur and visit the Lava Centre which explains the magnificent forces of nature around us. Hella is our main service centre for grocery shopping. The nearest golf course is Strandarvöllur (19 km).


Northern Lights at your doorstep

Iceland is one of the best places in the world to see the Northen Lights. On clear, crisp winter nights in Iceland, you can experience the Aurora dancing magically across the sky. Seeing the Northern Lights would be the cherry on top on top of your winter trip in Iceland. You can maximise your chances of seeing the Northern Lights by staying at a Northern Lights friendly accommodation. Being Northern Lights friendly means they offer some extra services in regards to the Northern Lights. 

 
Relaxation in the countryside

Skeiðvellir is in the South of Iceland and great for those who want to stay in a beautiful place and be centrally located to see Iceland's main gems. Apart from the traditional Golden Circle (78 km) and the south coast which contains e.g., Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, Skógafoss Waterfall and Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, there are also many smaller and lesser-known tourist attractions in this part of the country. Within 1 – 2 hours' drive, you can view the amazing oasis Gjáin Gorge and the waterfalls Þjófafoss, Fossbrekkur, and Háifoss. Those who want to go on longer trips can visit Landmannalaugar and enjoy a walk or a hike in this beautiful surrounding landscape.

 
Árbæjarfoss, Ægissíðufoss and Urriðafoss waterfalls

You do not always have to travel far to see beautiful waterfalls! Within 20 km you can visit Árbæjarfoss Waterfall, Ægissíðufoss Waterfall and Urriðafoss Waterfall. It is also possible to park by Árhús in Hella and walk towards Ægissíðufoss, along Rangá river. This is a short walk leading to the waterfall, where scenic landscape awaits.
