About the tour
Farm experience in Iceland
Live, learn and experience farming in Iceland
This tour is a great opportunity to learn about farming, local culture and the way of living in the charming countryside of Iceland. The tour, ideal for 1 to 4 people, begins and ends in Reykjavik and takes place in the southern part of Iceland where you will stay for 4 nights and 5 days. You will visit several of South Iceland's top attractions such as Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring area and Skógarfoss waterfall.
The farm's food is sourced from local ingredients and during your stay you will enjoy dining with the members of the family. You can even help prepare the meals, bake the bread and take part other daily farm activities. The farmers are also happy to take you for a walk in the neighbourhood and inform you about local Sagas and culture.
Learn about the Icelandic horse, its nature, breeding and how it is trained. Horse-riding is on offer daily and is not weather dependent as riding is also possible inside the riding hall next to the farm.
Farming activities differ from season to season. In May for example, you can experience the lambing season and view a horse give birth to a foal.
The farm Vorsabaer II is located in South Iceland, 80 km from Reykjavík. The farmers Björn and Stefanía run their farm with an emphasis on breeding the Icelandic horse. The farmers keep horses, sheep, goats and cattle. They also own a cat and a dog. The accommodation is in a newly built cottage next to the farmer's home. The cottage consists of two rooms, shower/wc, kitchen, living room and a veranda. Guests have access to a hot tub by the farmer's house. It is not uncommon to be able to view the northern lights in winter.
