Day 1 | 28th December 

Arrival at Keflavík International Airport between 14:00 and 16:00. Transfer to farmer‘s guesthouse Brekkulækur. Night lodging (5 nights).

Start the day like many Icelanders do by taking a dip in the local geothermal swimming pool and soaking in the hot tubs. Brunch afterwards at Brekkulækur. On one of the following evenings you will attend a local get-together at the community centre.

Day 3 | 30th December 

Travel by car to a seal colony on the beautiful Vatnsnes Peninsula. Short hikes. 

Lunch and dinner at Brekkulækur. Afternoon at leisure. In the evening you will enjoy readings from Icelandic literature by candlelight with a hot cup of tea.

Day 4 | 31st December 

The day starts in the hot tub, followed by an afternoon hike to the neighbours‘ to have a look into the sheep stable. The Icelandic sheep is a special breed dating back 900 years. In the evening you will enjoy the warmth from a huge bonfire – an Icelandic tradition on New Years‘ Eve. After the fireworks at midnight you will return to the farm and spend the first few hours of the New Year with your local hosts.

Day at leisure. Hike up to the hills and get acquainted with Icelandic horses. 

Afternoon service in a small country church.

Morning departure from Brekkulækur to Reykjavík. Explore the city at our own pace. Overnight in a guesthouse in the city centre.

Transfer to Keflavík International Airport after breakfast at the guesthouse (no breakfast for very early morning flights).
