Put on your helmet and flash light and explore Iceland’s largest lava cave, formed some 1.100 years ago, following the eruption of one of the volcanoes underlying the glacier Langjökull. 1.6 km in length, the cave features colourful hues such as deep reds and purples and otherworldly lava formations. Experience caving in an easy and enjoyable manner thanks to the walkway and subtle lighting installations. A journey in the depths of the earth for both young and old! Daily departures all year.

Víðgelmir is a lava tube situated in the Hallmundarhraun lava field. The lava field was formed during an eruption in the 10th century, originated undir the Langjökull glacier in West Iceland. Víðgelmir is 1585m long and the largest part of the cave passage is 15,8m high and 16,5m wide, making the cave by far the largest of its kind in Iceland. 

The tour is a light stroll into the cave which has new access walkway and lights.
