Day 1 | Arrival - Brekkulækur
Arrival at Keflavík International Airport between 14:00 and 16:30 and transfer to North West Iceland. Drive through interesting scenery such as a beautiful 3,000 year old moss-covered lava field. Overnight lodging at farmer‘s guesthouse Brekkulækur (3x) (D).

Day 2 | Vatnsnes Peninsula - seal colony – bird cliffs Vatnsnes Peninsula with its seal colony and bird cliffs
Morning walk providing local insights into flora and fauna and Icelandic country life. Afternoon drive around Vatnsnes Peninsula with its seal colony and bird cliffs. Stop at fortress Borgarvirki and a visit to the Icelandic Seal Center in Hvammstangi village (optional). (B, L, D). 

Day 3 | Hiking - highlands
Day hike in the nearby highlands, a massive wetland area with numerous lakes. Evening relaxation in a geothermal swimming pool. (B, P, D).

Day 4 | Akureyri - Goðafoss
Drive up north with a visit to Akureyri town and a stop at Goðafoss Waterfall (waterfall of the gods). A dip in the wonderful Mývatn Nature Baths followed by dinner, and overnight lodging near Lake Mývatn (2x) (B, D).

Day 5 | Lake MývatnLake Mývatn Hverfjall Námaskarð
Exploration by bus and on foot of the area around Lake Mývatn with its unique natural phenomena such as Dimmuborgir lava fields, explosion crater Hverfjall and the mudpots at Námaskarð. (B, D).

Day 6 | Dettifoss – Sænautasel – Egilsstaðir 
Drive to East Iceland with a visit to the impressive Dettifoss Waterfall en route. If lucky you may be able to spot free wandering reindeer herds in the area. A stop at restored highland farm Sænautasel and at the natural wonder Grjótgarður. Overnight in Iceland’s largest woodland area Hallormsstaðaskógur. Relaxation in a geothermal pool. (B, D).

Day 7 | Hallormsstaðaskógur – Lake Lagarfljót – Djúpivogur 
Forest walk and sightseeing along the 30 km long Lake Lagarfljót. Hike to Hengifoss Waterfall. A break at the remarkable farmhouse Skriðuklaustur, formally home of reknowned Icelandic poet and writer Gunnar Gunnarsson. Drive along the highland route Öxi to Iceland’s oldest fishing village Djúpivogur with its 1,069 m high basalt pyramid Búlandstindur, said to be one of the Earth‘s energy spots. Relaxation in a geothermal pool. (B, D). Two nights‘ accommodation in the area.

Day 8 | Djúpivogur
A relaxing day with easy hiking along the coast and mountains and afterwards a visit to a local hot tub. (B, D).

Day 9 | Vatnajökull Vatnajökull glacier - Jökulsárlón
Drive along Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull. Visit to the Glacier exhibition in Höfn village. Two nights‘ accommodation at a farmhouse. (B, D).

Day 10 | Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
A visit to the stunning Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon with its drifting icebergs and a walk up to a glacier tongue. (B, D).

Day 11 | Vatnajökull National Park - Skaftafell 
Skaftafell, part of Vatnajökull National Park, a beautiful area surrounded by glaciers on three sides. Svartifoss Waterfall with its black basalt columns. A day for hiking (possible for different degrees of difficulty). Drive through great sand deserts and on to the mainly flat agrarian area of South Iceland. One night in the area. (B, D).

Day 12 | Þingvellir National Park – Geysir – Gullfoss – Blue Lagoon
Time for the famous Geysir hot spring area, Gullfoss Waterfall and Þingvellir National Park. Travel to Reykjanes Peninsula by bus to visit the world famous Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa (optional). Overnight lodging at a quiet guesthouse in Keflavík town. (B)

Day 13 | Departure or extended stay in Reykjavík 
Transfer to Keflavík International Airport and departure or you can make your own arrangements to stay longer and experience Iceland‘s capital Reykjavík.
