Day 1 | The South West

Places of interest: Borgarfjörður district,
the site of one of the most
popular Icelandic sagas, Egils Saga. 
Hraunfossar and Barnafossar waterfalls. 
Deildartunguhver hot spring. Historic 
Reykholt.
Accommodation in Borgarfjörður area.
 
 
Day 2 | Snæfellsnes Peninsula

Places of interest: Eldborg Crater. 
Snæfellsjökull Glacier and National Park. Arnarstapi.
Hellnar. Colourful bird life.
Accommodation in Snæfellsnes area.
 
 
Day 3 | Snæfellsnes Peninsula and the West

Places of interest: Breiðafjörður Bay. Fishing villages on the northern
coast of Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Búðardalur village.
Accommodation in Hrútafjörður/Skagafjörður area.
 
 
Day 4 | Akureyri and the North West
 
Places of interest: Skagafjörður area. 
Farmhouse museum at Glaumbær. Old turf church at Víðimýri. 
Hvítserkur Cliff. Akureyri town – the capital of the North.

Day 5 | Lake Mývatn area

Places of interest: Goðafoss waterfall. 
Lake Mývatn – Höfði. Dimmuborgir lava fields.
Geothermal area at Námafjall.

Day 6 | Whale watching - The North East
 
Places of interest: Whale watching
from harbour village Húsavík.
Fossil collection at Tjörnes.
Öxarfjörður area.

Day 7 | The North East
 
Places of interest:
Jökulsárgljúfur National Park.
Ásbyrgi. Hljóðaklettar (Echo rocks).
The magnificent Dettifoss Waterfall.
Möðrudalsöræfi.

Day 8 | The East
 
Places of interest: Lake Lagarfljót
where the sea serpent 'Lagarfljótsormur'
allegedly lives. Hallormsstaður forest. 
The East Fjords with their
dramatic mountains and quaint fishing villages
like Borgarfjörður Eystri and Seyðisfjörður.

Day 9 | The East and the South East
 
Places of interest: Egilsstaðir village.
Unique stone collection in Stöðvarfjörður village.
Great scenery of tall and uniquely formed mountains
en route towards the South.

Day 10 | The South East

Places of interest: Fishing village Höfn.
Vatnajökull Glacier and National Park. 
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon - boat cruise amongst towering 
icebergs on offer. Interesting tours to Cape Ingólfshöfði 
on a hay wagon. Skaftafell.
Accommodation in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.
 
 
Day  11 | The South Coast

Places of interest: Kirkjubæjarklaustur village.
Vík village in Mýrdalur. 
Dyrhólaey, a 120 m high cape and nature sanctuary
with perpendicular cliffs teeming with birds. Skógar with its
magnificent waterfall Skógarfoss and Skógar folk museum.
Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
Accommodation in Gullfoss, Geysir area.
 
 
Day  12 | The South – inland

Places of interest: Historic Skálholt cathedral.
Kerið, a 3,000 year old explosion crater.
The beautiful Gullfoss Waterfall.
Geysir hot spring area. Þingvellir National Park.
