Day 3 | South coast, Jökulsárlón, Skaftafell

During the next two days you can visit some of Iceland’s beautiful natural attractions along the south coast and drive as far as the spectacular Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. At night, try to find a spot where the sky is clear, if you’re lucky you might spot the northern lights! Drive through the Mýrdalssandur black sand plains where all travellers crossing for the first time were supposed to pile stones up to make a cairn, which would bring them good fortune on the journey. You will see the ancient Eldhraun Lava and pass a lovely little village, Kirkjubæjarklaustur. In Skaftafell you can walk up to Svartifoss waterfall and drive up to Svínafellsjökull glacier.

Day 4 | Blue lagoon, Keflavík

Head back towards Keflavik International Airport. If you have time we suggest that you stop by the charming coastal villages Eyrarbakki and Stokkseyri. They have excellent museums and restaurants well worth visiting. Don’t miss the amazing Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa for a relaxing soak on your way to the airport.
