Itinerary

Day 1 | Welcome to Iceland

Get off the plane at Keflavík airport and take a coach transfer (optional) to reach Reykjavík City, where your hotel for the night is. Spend the evening strolling the streets of Reykjavík, where reigns a unique Christmas atmosphere during the winter months. Savour a hot beverage in one of the city’s cosiest cafés, while listening to some live music, or get a taste of the Icelandic cuisine in one of the city’s top-notch restaurants.

Day 2 | The Golden Circle

Discover the Golden Circle, consisting of three natural wonders of exceptional beauty, starting with Thingvellir National Park, for a walk between America and Europe, also the origins of the world’s first parliament dating back to 1930. Continue onwards to Gullfoss Waterfall, offering striking contrasts with the frozen canyon, before heading to Geysir Hot Spring Area, whose main attraction is Strokkur geyser, blasting boiloing-hot water between 20 and 40 meters into the air. Get up close and personal with the Icelandic horse in a local horse stable and see how greenhouses are thumbing their nose to the dark winter months. Reach your home for the next two nights and get ready for a thrilling northern lights hunt!

Day 3 | White Glaciers and Black Sands

Head East today, to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, a place of pure beauty. Observe how icebergs break from the glacier tongue Breidamerkurjökull visible in the distance, and how they slowly drift into the Glacier Lagoon where they spend 5 years on average, before making their way out to sea. Seals are a common sight as the lagoon is filled with fishes! Retrace your steps in the direction of Vík, with a stop at Skaftafell National Park, home to some of the country’s most beautiful and preserved natural wonders, including Svartifoss Waterfall.

Day 4 | Volcanoes and Waterfalls

The South still holds a lot of surprises, as in the span of one day, you will drive past volcanoes, waterfalls, and rugged mountains. Start the day with a visit to the Lava Centre, a fun and educational exhibition retracing volcanic events in Iceland and featuring all kinds of activities for all the family. Visit two of Iceland’s most beloved waterfalls, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss, of which you can get a unique perspective while walking behind (limited in winter). The icing on the cake? A visit to the staggeringly beautiful Blue Lagoon, where you can either walk around or unwind your trip in the milky-blue waters (bathing admission not included) for a timeless moment.
