Pick up your rental car upon arrival at Keflavík airport and explore Reykjanes Peninsula on your way to Reykjavík. Start by exploring the Viking World Museum, entrance included, before driving onwards to Gunnuhver, the mud pools and steam vents, the picturesque Stafnesviti lighthouse and Hafnarberg sea lava cliffs. Also worth exploring are Brimketill, a small pool carved naturally by marine erosion, Reykjanesviti lighthouse and the Bridge Between Continents.
Reykjavík is a vibrant city full of history, museums, shops, and restaurants that can easily be explored on foot. The Reykjavík Welcome Card gives you free access to some great museums, city busses, swimming pools in Reykjavík and the ferry to Viðey Island where you will find Yoko Ono‘s Imagine Peace Tower. While exploring the city a taste of delicious Icelandic cuisine is a must before going on the included whale watching tour.
South Iceland features some of Iceland most beautiful natural wonders, but the area is also rich in history and culture. Here you will find beautiful attractions such as the Golden Circle route which includes the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring area and Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A dip in the Secret Lagoon is also recommended after a lunch stop at Friðheimar greenhouses, as well as dinner at Fjöruborðið restaurant in Stokkseyri village if you are still in the area for some delicious lobster.
