Take in the diverse and scenic landscape of Snæfellsnes Peninsula in West Iceland. Highlights include the mystical Snæfellsjökull Glacier, the bird paradise Breiðafjörður Bay, charming harbour villages and stunning beaches. Available from 1 June to 15 September. Explore the north coast of Snæfellsnes where seabirds and occasionally seals can be spotted. Visit the charming village of Stykkishólmur from where you can go on a boat tour around the many islands and bird colonies of Breiðafjörður Bay. Alternatively, continue to Grundarfjörður from where you can take a whale watching tour and view the beautiful mountain Kirkjufell, or visit Ólafsvík village with its old warehouse from 1841 which now houses a folk museum.
Tour Snæfellsjökull National Park including the mystical Snæfellsjökull Glacier, supposedly one of the seven 'energy points' of the Earth and featured in the novel 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth' by Jules Verne. Stroll along the stunning dark pebble beach Djúpalónssandur and historic Dritvík cove. Continue to Arnarstapi village and explore the caves and lava formations. Accommodation in Snæfellsnes.
