This tour package includes private transfer to and from airport and Reykjavík, modern and stylish accommodation for 4 nights in the city centre, less than 5-minute walk from the marathon starting line, a pre-Reykjavik Marathon course inspection, city sightseeing with a local guide and avid runner, and a relaxing Bowen massage after the marathon run for 20 minutes.

The Reykjavik Marathon in Iceland is a joyful and motivating event that boasts an atmosphere which many have described as electric. The race starts and finishes in the city centre within sight of the pond and city hall. The marathon passes through residential areas, near a salmon river and along the beach with huge crowds of enthusiastic supporters cheering you on. After the race, you can join the locals in celebrating the Reykjavík Culture Night which takes place in squares, in museums, businesses, and residential gardens! Tour guide Martha Ernstdóttir

Martha was for years one of the nation´s leading runner, attending her first marathon in 1984, and competing in a marathon run at the Olympic Games in 2000. She continues running every day and practices yoga regularly. She has won a number of Icelandic records in marathon and 1/2 marathon, 5km and 10km street running and track.

Martha works as a physiotherapist and has also a degree in homeopathy.

Martha will be your guide for the marathon course inspection and city sightseeing, as well as in the introduction evening.

Itinerary

19 August - Thursday | Welcome to Reykjavík

Welcome to Iceland and Reykjavik! You will be picked up at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Reykjavík.

Check-in at a hotel for the next 4 nights.

20 August - Friday | Course inspection and Reykjavík sightseeing - pick up marathon documents

Free morning to explore the city.

Exclusive 2-3 hours guided Reykjavík Excursion for a pre-Reykjavik Marathon course inspection and city sightseeing with a local guide and avid runner. Familiarize yourself with the running course before the big day and get to know this northernmost capital in the world. From the settlement of Iceland to current day Reykjavík city, you'll get to know its quirks and secrets with a few stops along the route for course inspection and city insights.

Pick up all necessary marathon documents before returning to the hotel.

21 August - Saturday | Marathon day and Reykjavík cultural day

Walk over to the marathon start from your hotel, less than 5-min walk. Enjoy a free afternoon after the run to unwind and enjoy the festivities the city has to offer.

About Bowen massage

Bowen is a fascia (soft tissue) release treatment that opens the flow through muscles and tissues, which increases muscle activity, releases tension and puts active recovery in motion. The treatment is about the body as a whole and is performed through light clothing. No oil is used.
