The Waterfall Trail | Wilderness Center - East

The Waterfall Trail | Wilderness Center - East

Walk along the Jökulsá river to the pace of its record number of waterfalls. Visit the Wilderness Center exhibition, then start the hike to the abandoned farm of Kleif, after which you soon reach the lowest waterfall. As you follow the trail, the other falls appear one after the other. Adrenaline junkies can try their hand at the traditional cableway across the glacier river. An invigorating 6-hour hike, covering a distance of 16km, and ending with a dip in a scenic geothermal pool. Old folk tales have it that the water has healing powers. Available from 12 June to 30 September.
