A small, cosy residence at farm Fagrahlíð in the Fljótshlíð region in the south of Iceland. The farm, located by the foothills of nearby mountains, has wonderful views over the region. Glacier Eyjafjallajökull is clearly visible as well as the coastline and the Westman Islands. The region itself is a beautiful and peaceful place where brooks playfully tumble trough ravines and canyons and where you can relax under the warm sun, nestled by mossy tussocks. Three self-catering apartments at the farm Fagrahlíð.  
On the upper floor is bright and spacious apartment with 3 bedrooms (twin / double rooms with hand basins), bathroom with a shower, kitchen / dining / living room and balcony (extra bed available in one of the rooms). Apartment is categorized as cat. C apartment.

On the ground floor are to apartments.  One is a studio apartment (cat. A) that sleeps 4 people in twin beds and a bunk bed and has an en-suite bathroom and kitchen / dining / living room. Another apartment (cat. B) sleeps 6 people in two bedrooms (one with double bed, one with two bunk beds) and has a private bathroom and kitchen / dining / living room. Please note that this apartment has a low ceiling (2.05 m). – Free Wi-Fi. 


Guests prepare their own meals. The nearest supermarket is in village Hvolsvöllur ( km /  mi). A short distance from Fagrahlíð are Hellishólar and Hótel Fljótshlíð where meals are on offer during the day, and dinner is served á la carte from.

A look into the Middle Ages

Fljótshlíð and neighbouring regions are the setting of one of the most famous Icelandic Sagas, Njál’s Saga. The Njál’s Saga Centre at Hvolsvöllur (5 km / 3 mi) provides an in-depth look at this famous work of literature, offering audio tours in a number of languages. It is possible to get maps and more information about heritage sites at the Centre, as well as reserve guided tours around the Saga sites.

Waterfalls, glaciers and volcanic islands

Outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers have a lot to choose from when it comes to day-trips from Fagrahlíð. The waterfall Seljalandsfoss (30 km / 18.5 mi) is a splendid stop along the beautiful South Iceland route. Travel a further 30 km (18.5 mi) from Seljalandsfoss, past the southern foothills of Eyjafjallajökull, to one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls, Skógafoss, and the interesting Skógar Folk Museum. Þórsmörk, one of the most popular stops for outdoor enthusiasts, is a unique oasis of flora, guarded by glaciers and strewn with interesting hiking trails. Scheduled tours depart from town Hvolsvöllur. A day trip to the Westman Islands by ferry comes highly recommended and the ferry departs at Landeyjahöfn (38 km / 23.5 mi).
