5 x 2 person rooms with single beds and 3 x 2 person rooms with double beds, 2 x 6 person family room with two single bets and bunk beds (for 2). The smaller rooms are 7m2 and the bigger rooms are 17m2. Beds and bunks are made up. The guesthouse has 8 shared bathrooms. Guests have access to a lovely common room with a fireplace. A veranda with furniture. Two warm springs to bathe in.
Breakfast and dinner are available (guests must order dinner 16:00). Light snacks like sandwiches, soups and cakes available between 10:00-22:00. Hot coffee is always available and lunch packs can be ordered for shorter or longer trips.
The hosts are ready and willing to provide information about hiking trails and interesting things to see in and around Laugarfell. Two warm springs are located close by the guesthouse and they are open for guests until. 23:00 in the evening. Trout fishing is available in nearby lakes. The closest town with shops and various services is Egilsstaðir (74 km).
Enjoy spectacular nature and hot springs
Two warm pools are located by the guesthouse, which is not a common sight in East Iceland. Locals have known about the pools for centuries and they were often used as a cure for itchiness and arthritis. The pools are perfect for relaxing and unwinding after a long day of hiking or exploring the area and enjoy the spectacular views.
The hiker´s adventure ground
All around Laugarfell you will find heaths, moors, mountains, and the intriguing wilderness. Many marked hiking trails around the guesthouse, among those is the ‘Waterfalls Trail’. This is an 8 km trail that begins and ends at Laugarfell. The trail will lead you to five magnificent waterfalls and steep canyons.
Interesting places and natural wonders
Laugarfell is the perfect location for those who want to explore the region and experience the wilderness. Many points of interest in the area like Hengifoss Waterfall (43 km), Kárahnjúkar Dam (27,5), Skriðuklaustur, the Wilderness Centre and Hallormsstaðir Forest.
