The day begins with a stop at Goðafoss Waterfall on the way to Lake Mývatn. Goðafoss plays an important role in Icelandic history, particularly in connection with the introduction of Christianity in Iceland.

The tour continues to the pseudo-craters of Skútustaðagígar and onwards to the mystic Dimmuborgir (Dark Cities), full of lava-pillars and formations rich in mystic sagas and tales. You visit the warm underground river in Grjótagjá rift and then head to the geothermal area of Hverir with its boiling mud pools, steaming fumaroles and sulphur pits.

Krafla volcanic area is the next destination on this tour and you drive past the power station bearing the same name, that relies on geothermal steam energy for its operation. You then arrive at the explosion crater Víti that was formed in 1724 in the Mývatnseldar volcanic eruption and from there you can enjoy the view over Leirhnjúkur Volcano.

At the last stop you visit the Mývatn Nature Baths. There, you can enjoy two hours relaxing in a natural geothermal pool located in the middle of a lava field with great views over Lake Mývatn.
