Activity Adventure | Jökulsárlón The glacier lagoon

Code:

IFH-EA-AA

Description:

Boat trip on the famous Glacier Lagoon and an ATV excursion near Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull.

You will fly to Höfn in Hornafjördur, a young town partially framed by Vatnajökull Glacier, larger than all other glaciers in Europe combined. This glacier and its various tongues flow along steep mountainsides, gently dominating the region's coastline.

Our waiting coach drives us to the Glacier Lagoon, where huge, aqua-blue icebergs dot this mystical space. You board a boat and shove off for an otherworldly cruise, zigzagging between the imposing bergs. This area was the setting for the opening scenes of the James Bond film, Die Another Day.

Next, you will climb aboard four-wheel ATVs to experience Iceland’s incredible landscape up close.
In the shadow of the mighty glacier, we’ll pass by green hills and rivers raging through ravines forged by the forces of nature. If you are lucky, you will glimpse herds of reindeer, the only place in Iceland where this is possible.

Finally, you will visit the Glacier Exhibition in Höfn to learn about the area, its nature and basic glaciology.
The The exhibition's halls provide a direct view to Vatnajökull and some of its outlet glaciers. A platform on the roof is also accessible for a panoramic view of the surroundings.
