As Icelander's prepare for the long weekend ahead the volcano seems to calming down quite a bit. The volcanic plume has been descending in the past few days, which suggests that the magma flow has reduced considerably (well under 50 tons/sec). It is important to bear in mind, though, that fluctuations in the volcanic activity can still be expected, and intrepit volcanologists should be careful in approaching the volcano and follow all guidelines.

A long weekend at the beginning of summer is only made better with a promise of good weather, and Icelanders all around the country are getting their gardens and neighbourhoods in shape for the green summer ahead.
